A progressive meal or recipe hop is a party in which each successive course is prepared and eaten at the residence of a different host. It's a frugal and fun way to share meals with friends that has been around for decades, perhaps even centuries. Because each person is only responsible for one course of the meal it can be very frugal. The travel and company of sharing the meal at different residences makes it entertaining and fun. Plus, it's a great way to pick up new recipes, tips, and ideas.
With the help and expertise of some other fantastic women bloggers we've decided to host a virtual progressive meal (ours will last all day). Hopefully, you will find this virtual progression not only fun, but you'll find some wonderful new blogs to follow and pick up some new recipes and tips. I've included the daily menu, along with the links for each course. Each blogger has contributed a favorite recipe to share with you. I hope you'll enjoy this very special event. Feel free to leave your hostess feedback as we plan for our next progressive dinner.
I'd like to share with you one of my favorite veggie dishes...and my kids love them too! They are a super easy, inexpensive, and healthy side dish that goes well with any meal! I hope you like them as much as my family does :)
Roasted Garlic Green Beans
This yummy dish will serve at least 4 people. To make it you will need:
- 1lb fresh green beans
- 3 cloves chopped garlic (the more garlic, the better in my house!)
- 2T extra-virgin olive oil
- 1T fresh lemon juice
- kosher salt
- fresh ground pepper
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
To prepare the green beans simply cut the ends off and rinse with cold water. Place them on a cookie sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Season with salt and pepper and toss to coat. Top with chopped garlic.
Roast in 400° oven for 15 minutes. Remove and drizzle with lemon juice. Enjoy!
